Workshop Information and Policies
Training Registration
Cal Poly faculty and staff will use the online Training Registration system to register for information technology training classes. The system requires you to login using your Cal Poly Username (e.g. jmustang) and Cal Poly password. Everyone who has a campus email account automatically has a Cal Poly account and password. Your Cal Poly password is the same password you might use to login to the Cal Poly Portal. If you do not know this password, please contact the ITS Service Desk or the CMS Call Center at 756-7000 option 3. Please note that they will ask that you complete a Cal Poly Password Change form. The Call Center/Service Desk fax number is 756-1536.
Prerequisites
Some of our classes have prerequisites. Please read the course description carefully and make sure that you have fulfilled all prerequisites before enrolling in a class.
Special Classes
ITS schedules classes and workshops on supported software applications. If our published training schedule does not include classes needed by your department, please let us know and we will try to include them in our next schedule. Special training for departments will be limited and subject to staff availability, with cost and schedules arranged in advance. To request a special session, call User Support Services (6-7000).
User Accounts
Some courses require an account on one of the Cal Poly computing systems. To obtain an Email, Calendar, or Central UNIX account, locate the required form on the Service Desk Forms web site.
Come in or fax the form to the ITS Service Desk at 756-1536. Please allow at least 72 hours prior to the start of class to set up your account (three working days).
Cancellation Policy
ITS maintains a policy of providing free, hands-on training to faculty and staff. The demand for classes far exceed the number of openings. We request a 48 hour notice if you cannot attend a class. Please observe this cancellation policy, and free up your reservation if you know you cannot attend a class. Most classes involve hands on training with one or two persons per machine. Therefore, enrollment is limited by seating.
Reservation Policy/Tardiness
A confirmed reservation for any ITS training course will hold a seat for you until the start of class (generally 10 minutes past the hour). Once the class has started, empty seats will be used to accommodate those on the waiting list, and then any other individuals who want to take the class.
Class Cancellation Policy
A class will be canceled if fewer than five people are enrolled.
