Blackboard
Introduction to Blackboard
This presentation will provide an overview of Blackboard and show examples of how other Cal Poly faculty have used it. This is a great way to get familiar with what you can do in Blackboard. General information about how to get started using Blackboard to supplement your face-2-face course is also provided.
Blackboard: Basics
In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to setup your course navigation, color scheme, design, and file organization. This workshop will also provide you with tips & tricks to managing your course content, how to reuse the Blackboard course each quarter it is taught, and how to archive your student participation.
Blackboard: Add Files
This hands-on workshop will show you how to effectively upload your course materials into Blackboard. You will be shown tips on how to: copy/paste existing digital information; uploading Microsoft Word and PowerPoint files; inserting GIFs and JPGs; and zipping/uploading entire folders of HTML content with text and graphics. (Procreated files are provided for uploading.)
Blackboard: Quizzes, Surveys & Assignments
In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to create anonymous surveys to evaluate your teaching before the end of the quarter, how to create quizzes to assist your students' comprehension, and how to create an assignment for your students, which automatically generates a Gradebook Item for evaluative feedback.
Blackboard: Demo / Pedagogy
Are you wondering how other Cal Poly faculty have used Blackboard to support their teaching and learning? Come and see examples as well as discuss effective methods for using Blackboard. Depending on the audience, some hands-on may be accomplished depending on the collective questions.
